Patricia Patsch, Dr.iur.
Patricia, born in 1994, grew up in Vorarlberg, studied law, commercial law and business administration at the University of Innsbruck and has been living in Switzerland for several years for professional reasons.
Patricia's story in animal welfare began when she was confronted with the unimaginable suffering associated with long-distance animal transport and then decided to dedicate her legal dissertation to the subject of animal transport law. In her dissertation ( published by Schulthess Verlag ), Patricia examined the European, German, Swiss and Austrian animal transport systems in detail, highlighted the deficiencies that exist on a legal and practical level and identified possible improvements.
Patricia is a public advocate for a fundamental improvement in animal transport law and for an end to the transport of live animals - you can find her on this topic at panel discussions, on television, on the radio or in the newspaper. Patricia is also a member of the investigative journalist start-up TheMarker , which carries out explosive uncovering work on the serious abuses in the export and transport of Austrian cattle to third countries, including Algeria.
In addition to her work in animal transport, Patricia regularly does animal welfare-related volunteer work in animal shelters and sanctuaries in Switzerland and abroad: In recent years, she has been to Morocco several times to provide on-site help for stray animals, to work in animal shelters and to participate in castration projects in several regions of Morocco.
In Peru, Patricia helped renovate a small animal shelter and in Spain she spent several weeks helping out at the animal shelter and the Salvando Peludos animal sanctuary. She was also able to assist the veterinary team there every day and learn a lot.
In Switzerland, she regularly volunteers on animal sanctuaries.
She lives with her 12-year-old dog Oskar from Hungary in Zurich and works in a software company.
